About the Program

Program Details

Any child in the fourth grade is eligible to participate once a parent or guardian completes the enrollment process. After enrollment, your fourth grader can begin using the Passport right away.

Each participating ski area in Minnesota provides at least two lift tickets per season to every Passport holder. The Passport costs $43.99, plus tax, and is available for purchase through the Friday before Presidents’ Day.

Our goal is simple: to introduce families to just how much fun they can have together outside in the winter.

Please note: These lift tickets cannot be combined with any other discounts or offers, and they are not valid for group programs or competition programs.

Program FAQ

Placeholder FAQ — replace with your final questions and answers.

Does the 4th grade student need to be a Minnesota resident?
No. The MnSAA 4th Grade Passport program is open to any student in the 4th grade, regardless of what state they live in.
Are there fees?
The passport costs $43.99 (plus tax). Once purchased, there are no additional fees for the 4th grade passport holder.
What is needed for proof of grade?
We require verification that the student is in the fourth grade. A parent or guardian uploads proof of 4th-grade enrollment — for example, a letter from the school, a 3rd-grade report card showing progression to 4th grade, or a classroom assignment or syllabus. Questions? Email passport@skiandboardmn.com.
Can homeschooled students participate?
Yes! Any student in the 4th grade can participate. For homeschool students, enter “Homeschool” in the school field and provide a current Letter of Intent to Homeschool as proof of grade. Questions? Email passport@skiandboardmn.com.
Why only 4th grade?
Fourth grade is the perfect age to learn to ski and snowboard. The program is tailored for new and beginner skiers and riders, who have the coordination and muscle development to pick up the skills and the ability to follow safety information.
